Ned Steinberger and David Gage announce the release of The Realist Docking Station^tm.

Volume Control for All... The Realist Docking Station is a no-fuss dock and volume knob that works with any (acoustic) string-bass pick-up. This “Universal Volume Attenuator” mounts to the instrument’s tailpiece without glue or fasteners. The ¼-inch input and ¼-inch output allows seamless integration to player’s current set-up. The volume attenuation is provided by a sleek anodized knob clearly visible and within the player’s reach so that he or she can clearly adjust on-the-fly.

The Docking Station also features The Jack-Pot^tm, a potentiometer that allows the resistance to be bypassed entirely. The Jack-Pot allows the player to “click” into a final, unresisted stage beyond the loudest setting. A la This Is Spinal Tap, this pot let’s you “go all the way up to eleven.”

The Docking Station solves jack mounting problems, too. The cable is dressed away neatly from the ¼” output without additional hardware. The tension of the strings holds The Docking Station to the tailpiece, like the “loop” from the industry standard Realist “Copperhead” pick-ups.

Helicore Hybrid bass strings are multi-stranded steel core strings that produce a moderatly warm tone quality. The core design makes for strings that are very easy to play under the left hand. Amplifying your instrument seems to be one of those necessary evils. Whether it is a Symphony under the Stars or a small combo most stringed instruments need some boost to project to the audience and be heard alongside percussionists and brass players.

Until recently most piezo type pickups have been placed in some way on the bridge of the instrument. This has the immediate effect of acting as a mute. This might not be a problem when amplified but is nuisance for the rest of the time as it means constantly pulling it on and off. The Realist pickup is placed under the foot of the bridge and makes very little, if any difference to the sound of the instrument. Installation is simple and generally stays on the bass at all times.

David Gage and Ned Steinberger (the creators) felt a transducer should be equal in it's ability to recreate an acoustic pizzicato and arco sound through commonly used amplifiers. Furthermore, this pick-up had to be simple, dependable, and affordable. After years of consideration and tests, they have come up with a system that achieves all of these goals.

The Markacoustic AH 250 is a compact and lightweight head for acoustic instruments. Les succès incroyable des cordes Obligato pour contrebasse a poussé Pirastro, le célèbre fabriquant autrichien, a développé des cordes avec un cœur en synthétique.

Le résultat est le jeu Evah Pirazzi "BASS". C'est un jeu hybride convenant aussi bien pour un jeu Arco que Pizzicato.  Les Evah Pirazzi offrent une surprenante stabilité d'accord, une mise en place rapide du jeu et une étonnante résistance.  Comme pour les Obligato, ces cordes résistent très bien aux changements d'hygrométrie et de température.  Toutes les cordes sont filées en acier chromé et délicatement polies

GARBO strings are made with a solid core and are designed to enhance the particular frequencies which enable the acoustic instrument to hold its own - even against a drum set. The sound is especially distinctive for the lower-middle frequency range, offering rich harmonics that are clear and assertive with the familiar "kick" as the note begins. The Garbo strings can produce a fullness of tone and penetration which is simply unbeatable.

Amplifying your instrument seems to be one of those necessary evils. Whether it is a Symphony under the Stars or a small combo most stringed instruments need some boost to project to the audience and be heard alongside percussionists and brass players.

Until recently most piezo type pickups have been placed in some way on the bridge of the instrument. This has the immediate effect of acting as a mute. This might not be a problem when amplified but is nuisance for the rest of the time as it means constantly pulling it on and off. The Realist pickup is placed under the foot of the bridge and makes very little, if any difference to the sound of the instrument. Installation is simple and generally stays on the bass at all times.

David Gage and Ned Steinberger (the creators) felt a transducer should be equal in it's ability to recreate an acoustic pizzicato and arco sound through commonly used amplifiers. Furthermore, this pick-up had to be simple, dependable, and affordable. After years of consideration and tests, they have come up with a system that achieves all of these goals.

David Gage says, “We understand the hours of practice it takes to draw your sound out of your instrument, and with this pick-up we feel your voice can be heard more accurately through an amplifier. Both recording engineers and professional musicians have been startled by the great tone and even response when playing pizzicato and arco.

There are many variables with amplifiers, leads, and other sound reinforcement equipment and there are no perfect solutions however the Realist is simple, intelligently designed and one of the best solutions currently available.
